Fonzie Gagnon and Trenidad Henriquez for Wade Redmond and $1.5 million
1. Production - Gagnon has appeared mainly out of the bullpen in 96 games over two ML seasons and has 13 wins and 8 saves. He has a career 4.03 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. Henriquez has 40 ML starts in his 2 seasons and is 10-18 with an ERA of 5.58 and a WHIP of 1.55. Redmond has 423 career starts in 8 ML seasons. he is 147-139, with an ERA of 4.20 and a WHIP of 1.35. He has also appeared in one All-Star game. Advantage - San Juan
2. Ratings - Gagnon will max out as a servicable back of the rotation starter/long reliever. He has good stamina, but below average control and vs LHB. He also has above average pitches. Henriquez will be better, a #3SP type with above average control and velocity. Redmond is old but has retained his ratings despite his age. He is a #2 #3 typ SP with elite stamina, and very good all around ratings. Advantage - Even
3. Contract - Gagnon and Henriquez are controllable and will not hit arbitration for a couple of seasons. Redmond is in the second year of a 4 year, $6.5 million per year deal. Due to his strong intangibles, he should be able to keep his ratings thru the contract and possibly bring a Type B in a couple of seasons. Advantage - Even
4. Overall - A good deal for both, San Juan gets a proven and durable innings eater that will provide support for a playoff push. San Antonio gets two young ML SP's while unloading a contractual burden. A good and fair deal for both.
