Season 26 Preview - AL East
Season 25 Standings
1. Boston - 106-56
2. Washington - 81-81
3. Durham - 71-91
4. Philadelphia - 58-104
Arrivals - Tom Wilkinson, Andy Carr, Morris Stevens, Daniel Reitsma, Ken DeRosa (promoted), Earl Seelbach (promoted)
Departures - Omar Flores, Edgar Johnson, Dwight Humphries
Net Effect - positive due to promotions
Status - full on dynasty beast mode
Prediction - 1st place. Too much talent here to be anything other than the best team in the AL.
Arrivals - Manny Ramsey, Erv Johnstone, Wendell Reed, Jesus Pineda, Tyson Lollar
Departures - Tomas Mesa, Tom Perez, Martin Gallagher
Net Effect - positive
Status - win now mode
Prediction - A .500 season should be improved upon, but will it be enough to hold off a hard charging Durham squad? My guess is yes, and anything but 2nd and a Wild Card berth should be a disappointment.
Arrivals - Augie Frederick, Freddy Shelby, Gregory Stevenson, Omar Sanchez, Darron Speier, Woody King, Al Vazquez, Jae-Kuk Hasegawa
Departures - B.C. Vincente, Hector Guerrero
Net Effect - very positive
Status - eve of dynasty?
Prediction - 2nd place if pitching is average, 3rd if not. This is a very competitive division, and Durham may have the best offense in the AL, but their pitching is suspect.
Arrivals - Bobby Joe Campbell
Departures - Jeff Woods, Sergio Weston, Junior Montero
Net Effect - negative
Status - rebuilding
Prediction - Should battle Cincy for the worst record in the AL and the only drama in the division should be if they can stay within 20 games of 3rd place.
Cy Young Watch - Manny Ramsey, Albert Mondesi, Eli Vasquez
MVP Watch - Yusmeiro Durazo, Barry Perry, Wendell Reed
ROY Lock - Ken DeRosa
