AL West IFA/Draft Combo

To finish up the AL.....

Fresno Fire
Top Draft Pick
SP/RP Jacob Hunter
Season 7, Round 1, Pick 21
Peak Rating - 84
Stats - 146-68, 2.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP
Awards - 3 x all-star, 1 x cy young, 1 WS ring
It was a tough call between Hunter and Silva, but in the end it was hard to go against a guy that is in the Top 5 all-time in ERA and WHIP. A perfect pitcher, only stamina and health held him from huge win totals. Regardless, he will win over 150 games and save over 100 games, which is quite a feat.
Runner-up - Harry Silva

SP Ramon Chen (active)
Season 3, $12.1 million
Peak Rating - 83
Stats - 3.83 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 277-222
Awards - 4 x all-star
The career leader in complete games and 2nd all-time in innings pitched and batters faced, Chen was as durable and dependable as they came. Had elite stamina, health, control, and durability. While never a star, his dependability was amazing.
Runner-up - Rafael Soriano

St. Louis Cardinals
Top Draft Pick
C Clinton Clifton (active)
Season 7, Round 1, Pick 3
Peak Rating - 86
Stats - .297 BA, .983 OPS, 639 HR's, 1860 RBI's
Awards - 12 x all-star, 12 x silver slugger, 5 x MVP, 2 x gold glove, 2 WS rings, ROY
Quite simply the best catcher 1530 has ever seen and a no-doubt HOF'r. In his prime, his contact, power, and eye rating were all in the high 90's. While not the best pitch caller, he had above average defensive ratings.
Runner-up - Heinie Conigliaro

SS Damaso Ortiz (retired)
Season 3, $3.4 million
Peak Rating - 79
Stats - .254 BA, .726 OPS, 219 HR's, 813 RBI's
Awards - 1 x each all-star, gold glove, WS ring
One of the few defensive SS's in the game that can also hit. Career .977 F% at SS as well as 53 plus plays at the position.
Runner-up - Pablo Lopez

Salem Aggies
Top Draft Pick
SP Hick Manning (active)
Season 16, Round 1, Pick 1
Peak Rating - 83
Stats - 3.90 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 81-55
Awards - 1 x all-star
A better pitcher than his stats and awards would suggest. Has very good rating across the board and it a prototypical #1 SP. Will put it all together one of these seasons.
Runner-up - Darren Hunter
3B Jose Segui (active)
Season 10, $17.8 million
Peak Rating - 87
Stats - .278 BA, .824 OPS, 280 HR's, 1015 RBI's
Awards - 4 x all star, 5 x silver slugger, 1 x gold glove, 3 x all star MVP
In his prime, one of the best 3B's in the game. Excellent glove to go along with 80'S across the board at the plate (aside from batting eye). Hard choice between him and all-time CL great Encarnacion.
Runner-up - Felipe Encarnacion

Vancouver Otters
Top Draft Pick
SP J.R. Beckett (active)
Season 5, Round 1, Pick 10
Peak Rating - 88
Stats - 3.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 253-100
Awards - 7 X all-star, 4 x Cy Young, 2 x WS Ring
A dominant SP with #1 stuff (90+ control, vs. LHB/RHB). Held back somewhat by average stamina, but still a HOF type career.
Runner-up - Phil Pride

Don Chen
Season 13, $28.1 million
Peak Rating - 86
Stats - .312 BA, .973 OPS, 305 HR's, 1018 RBI's
Awards - 5 x all-star, 2 x silver slugger
Chen is a LF with speed and contact ideal for the top of the order. A career .400 OBP guy, he's among the best #2/#3 hole hitters in the game.
Runner-up - Alfredo Nieves

AL South IFA/Draft Combinations

Jacksonville TIMUCUAN'S
Top Draft Pick
3B Zach Page (active)
Season 9, Round 1, Pick 4
Peak Rating - 89
Awards - 9 x all=star, 1 silver slugger, 1 WS Ring
Stats - .284 BA, .777 OPS, 202 HR's, 892 RBI's, 1452 runs
A plus glove at 3B, Page has been among the league leaders in runs scored since his debut in Season 13. Still only 34, he has a shot a finishing in the all-time Top 5 for runs scored. Classic lead-off hitter.
Runner-up - Max Winn
RP Al Castilla (active)
Season 9 - $12.4 million
Peak Rating - 78
Awards - 4 x all-star
Stats - 3.93 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 263 out of 312 saves
Not elite, but very good. Off the charts durability and health to go with solid stamina for an RP made him an every day reliever. Would struggle at times vs. LHB, but otherwise a very good performer.
Runner-up - Welington Chavez

Oklahoma City Falcons
Top Draft Pick
SS Ahmad Bell (active)
Season 9, Round 1, Pick 2
Peak Rating - 91
Awards - 3 x all-star, 4 x silver slugger, 1 gold glove
Stats - .269 BA, .839 OPS, 420 HR's, 1328 RBI's
Would have won many more awards if he was a better defensive SS. In his prime, there were few players better than him. A defensive plus at anywhere other than SS, he had elite power and a keen batting eye. Relatively weak contact and vs RHP will likely keep him out of the HOF.
Runner-up - Chad Clarke

Benny Taveras
Season 22, $15.9 million
Peak Rating - 75 (and climbing)
Awards - none
Stats - 3.64 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, 16-34 (minors)
Taveres projects as a #2/#3 type SP. He has good stamina, control, and vs RHB. In a pinch, he is also a serviceable defensive 1B. He should have a nice career with appearances in multiple all-star games and maybe a shot at 150 or so wins.
Runner-up - Jorge Flores

Monterrey Firestorm
Top Draft Pick
3B Garry Francis (active)
Season 7, Round 1, Pick 6
Peak Rating - 83
Awards - 5 x all-star, 2 silver sluggers
Stats - .281 BA, .828 OPS, 393 HR's, 1291 RBI's
Like Ahmad Bell, Francis was a plus defender at any position other than SS. Hampered by injuries (4 stints on the DL), Francis never realized his true potential. He also struck out way too much due to his average batting eye.
Runner-up - Troy Everett

LF Omar Barcelo (retired)
Season 5, $7 million
Peak Rating - 79
Awards - 1 gold glove, 1 WS ring
Stats - .256 BA, .747 OPS, 222 HR's, 841 RBI's
IFA Pickings are slim at Monterrey and Barcelo was the best of the bunch. He was best suited for COF, but played just about everywhere. Offensively, he had above average power, vs LHP, vs. RHP, and batting eye.
Runner-up - Juan Amaral

Charlotte Racers
Top Draft Pick -
RP Timo Hall (retired)
Season 2, Round 1, Pick 32
Peak Rating - 74
Awards - 5 x all-star, 2 x Fireman, 1 x WS Ring
Stats - 4.30 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, 324 out of 386 saves
Hall would struggle vs RHB's, but otherwise was a very good closer for a very long time. His stamina, control, and velocity were all superior in his day.
Runner-up - Ralph Jennings

2B Edgar Alvarado (active)
Season 19, $11.6 million
Peak Rating - 85 and rising
Awards - 1 all-star, 2 x silver slugger
Stats - 272 HR's, 775 RBI's, 66 HR's, 276 RBI's,
Alvarado is a rangey 2B with an average glove. He has a great durabiltity/health combination with speed to spare. Very good contact and batting eye, but only average otherwise. A candidate to lead the league in at-bats every season.
Runner-up - Santo Calderone

Week 6 Rankings

1. Kansas City Crusaders (80-34) Prev #1 - 13-7 for the week, KC continues to dominate the NL. They are 1st in Batting, 2nd in Pitching, and below average in the field. Run differential +288

2. Jacksonville TIMUCUANS (69-45) - Prev #10 - From un-ranked to #2 in just two weeks, Jacksonville was an amazing 19-1 for the week. They are above average in Batting, 1st in Pitching, and 4th in the field. Run differntial +156

3. Boston Massacre (72-42) - Prev #3 - Boston was 14-6 for the week, finally solving Durham (won 3 of 4), but struggling against Fresno (lost 2 of 3). They are 6th in Batting, 4th in Pitching, and 3rd in Fielding. Run differential +148

4. Fresno Fire (72-42) - Prev #2 - Another solid week for Fresno at 13-7, including a 6-3 record vs. Top 10 teams. They are 9th in Batting, 7th in Pitching, and below average in the field. Run differential +123

5. St. Louis Cardinals (67-47) - Prev #9 - Make it four out of five for the AL. The Cards were an impressive 16-4 for the week, including a split with Fresno and a series win vs. OKC. They are 12th in Batting, 6th in Pitching, and 2nd in Fielding. Run differential +114

6. Chicago Black Sox (66-48) - Prev #6 - Chicago holds steady after a 13-7 week. They took 2 of 3 from Helena, 3 of 4 from Honolulu, but lost 2 of 3 to KC. They are 3rd in Batting, 12th in Pitching, and 11th in Fielding. Run differential +119

7. Honolulu Tropics (76-38) - Prev #5 - So how does the team with the 2nd best record in 1530 check-in at #7? Well, because they are outperforming their expected results by quite a bit, largely due to their 21-8 record in 1-run games. They are 10th in Batting and above average in both Pitching and Fielding. Run differential +72

8. Oklahoma City Falcons (63-51) - Prev #4 - A 9-11 week drops the Falcons four spots, although they are a good bet to climb next week. They are 5th in Batting and above average in both Fielding and Pitching. Run differential +103

9. Tampa Bay Bats (66-48) - Prev NR - Welcome back, Bats! A 12-7 stretch followed a Top 10 killing 0-7 losing streak. The only bad news is that their recent run did not include any top 10 teams. The good news is that Tampa has a favorable remaining schedule. They are above average in Batting, 8th in Pitching, and 5th in Fielding. Run differential +74

10. Montreal Garde Imperiale (62-52) - Prev #8 - The Garde hangs on, only just, after a 9-11 week. They are 2nd in batting but below average in both Pitching and Fielding. Run differential +85

7. Helena Hustle
